Illness associated with Pushing Hard to Urinate?!

Question:

Illness associated with Pushing Hard to Urinate?

My sis told me she has had to push hard to pee as she has gotten older. I dont think age should make you push- I sit and just go- she used to as well but now she has to push HARD to pee- she has muscle pain all over her body. Can this be a sign of illness?? I need to convince her to see a doc. anyone know what this could be?
1. Muscle weekness and pain in legs
2. Trouble swallowing
3. Pushing hard to pee and poop (she says she has little tiny balls)

Answers:

Your sister's symptoms can be from several things. It's never normal to have to push or bear down when trying to empty the bladder. She may have some internal childbirth injury, involving the anterior vaginal wall, allowing the bladder to herniate or get pushed into a unnatural position called a "cystocele",same thing could happen to the posterior wall of the vagina, causing a "rectocele". She may have a bladder outlet obstruction. The other problems could be from a vast array of illnesses or conditions. She must see her MD to get sorted out. All you can do is encourage her to go.None of these things can get well on there own. Take care. SW RNP
