I get these horrid cramps. Any quick fix cures for them, besides medicine?

This is what my boyfriend has done for me when I've been out sick at work because of my cramps.
1. Chocolate (it acutally has something in it that helps...not much but who cares) :)
2. Fill a sock that you can tie off with rice. Put it in the microwave for 2 minutes (no water or anything) and hold that on where it hurts. The longer you hold it, the better you'll feel. I've held it there for half the day (after re-heating) before. That's the one thing that helps me the most.
Also if you go on birth control it will regulate your hormones and you'll have a more regular (and easy!) period.
