Lump on vulva?!

Question:

Lump on vulva?

I have recently noticed there seems to be a lump on one part of my vulva... I think... Well it's like on one of the inside of the skin down there... Like on the Labia Majora but only one side of it.

It isn't painful at all and it's not very big it just seems swollen. And it's a bit red.

I just finished my period and they were really light this month and I didn't change my pad (sanitary napkins) very often - could it be caused from that?

Do I need to go to the doc? I don't feel comfortable speaking to a doc about this and I am self-conscious of all the hair down there.

I am not sexually active or anything, though I do masturbate, could that be a cause???

I am stressed about this but really don't want to go to doc...

Is this normal? It hasn't been around for long but it is worrying me. :(

HELP!

Answers:

Could be a pimple and you can try applying heat to it for a couple days by using a wet face towel (the water needs to be warm) to see if it helps. If not, then this needs to be evaluated by a dr.

I know you are not comfortable with the idea of doing that but when you go (depending on what happens in a couple days) I would recommend going to a female dr for this so that you will feel a little less uncomfortable with talking to them about this. You can even arrange the appt to start off with talking to the dr in plainclothes first before an exam is ever done.

Also, when it comes to the exam a really good dr will explain what they are doing as they are doing it and that really helps to make the experience less frightening.

If you have other questions for me about the vulvar area or gynecologists, please feel free to e-mail or IM me privately any time.
