Mirena iud?

ladies who have or have had an I.U.D:

i got a mirena i.u.d after i had my first child. i've been spotting ever since and it's been over two months. does it ever stop? also, i've been bruising quite easily...could this be a side effect? besides the annoying spotting, it's been working pretty well for me. please share your experiences. thank you!!

kam: it didn't really hurt to get inserted, but i had just had a baby 6 weeks before. i got the miran since i heard that the copper i.u.d cause really heavy periods with bad cramping. i like it so far, except for the spotting. no mood swings or anything like that. and it lasts for 5 years!! i cramped and bled right after i got it, but i took some ibuprofen and it wasn't bad at all.

oh, and you can have it if you haven't had a baby, but i think it hurts a bit more to have it inserted.

i'm contemplating getting an iud...copper one though because I cant have the hormones. Do you like it? does it hurt? Can I still get one even though I've never had a baby? I've been researching but I'd like to hear from someone who actually has one.
