and if my b/f were a condom , if the condom touch the iud while having intercorse can the condom breaks?

There are only a few side effects from the Mirena. Cramping afterward, and spotting are what immediately come to mind. Your periods will lighten and will probably go away altogther. There is always the risk of uterine perforation or infection. I had the Mirena and loved it until I got a positive pregnancy test. Then it went away. I worked for an OBGYN at the time and asked her about it, and found out how the IUD really works. It works in four ways.
1. It globs up the cervical mucous, making it so the sperm can't get it. All well and good.
2. It paralyzes the sperm so it can't get to the egg. Fine.
3. It could prevent ovulation, but this is not usually the case.
4. This is my problem: it prevents implantation of a fertilized egg. That is why you have little or no period. Your endometrial lining is so thin, the fertilized egg can't implant.
Now this is an ethical dilemma. If you don't consider a fertilized egg a baby, then you have no problem.
Just something to think about.
