Sex mainly hurts girls because of the hymen (the small piece of skin covering the vaginal entrance). Most girls' hymens are not broken. Hymens can be broken by doing things like horse riding, being very athletic or having an accident. When you break your hymen, you'll probably know - it'll hurt.
Even if girls' hymens are broken, sex still hurts, so don't go trying to break it - it won't be worth it. Sex will still hurt like hell whether you break your hymen or not.
I think sex should be an enjoyable experience. Don't rush it. If your partner takes it slow, then it won't hurt as much and you'll get used to the feeling.
You will most probably bleed after sex, too - this is normal and usually a sign your hymen has now broken.
Sex will hurt a few times after you lose your virginity, too - but it will ease with time.
