I'm a single male parent of a 11 1/2 yr old girl. Normal time for her first period?

She's been becomming snooty and iritated with me lately. So not really knowing what to do, I decided to go get some pads. Just in case. (I had a lady in the isle help me). Sure enough, 4 days later she comes to me, and with concerned excitement, she says... "Daddy, I'm bleeding". Boy was that an experience, for both of us. Question is, is that about the average age for a first period?

some girls can start as early as 9 or 10 in same cases but i think 12 - 14 is the average age. Good luck you sound like a grat Dad..wot a great relationship..................... need to pat yourself on the back not many dads would be so open ....gonna give you gold star for that
