Could I be allergic to Latex?!

Question:

Could I be allergic to Latex?

I'm not sure if I am or not, I can wear latex gloves and not have a problem. But when I use condoms I always seem to have a problem the day after. My vagina seems dry, and the smell seems off (sweeter, like the smell of artificial vanilla mixed with my own smell. And no, they're not flavoured condoms).

Since I've stopped using condoms (long term, commited relationship and I'm on birth controll) I haven't noticed a problem like when we were still using them, is this a mild latex allergy, or something else?

Answers:

It could be that you're allergic to something that was on the condom, like a type of lubricant the company uses (or the man), or from the spermicide some condoms contain.

When my husband and I used to use spermicide lubricated condoms, I'd notice that around my vaginal opening would be red and inflamed. When I finally connected the dots, we haven't used the condoms with spermicide lubricant. I've been fine ever since.
