How long does it take for the pill to start preventing a pregnancy? I am planning to go to the doctor this week so I can get on the pill but I was just wondering...thanks!

Depends when you start taking it. If you start during your period, you are proteced right away, otherwise you are mostly protected after seven days. Wait until after you have finished a whole packet to be the most protected.
