I have a hip that aches bad enough to wake me from sleep... now it has started to go down into the knee... I sometimes have sharp pains and short periods of numbness in the thigh... most of the ache stays in the hip joint area... but the sharp pain will shoot to my knee.. no swelling or knots.... noticed tightness on the outside of my thigh area... I am 37 and have no health problems... average height and weight .. Going to D.R. this week for it .. but just wondering if anyone has had anything similar

Sounds like your sciatic nerve is being pinched. Either through a bulging disc in your lower back or through your sacro-iliac joint. Seeing an osteopath will help solve your problem.
