What type of recovery is required after having 1/2 of your uterus removed due to Cervical cancer?
Answers:
It depends on if they are going to do the surgery vaginally or abdominally.
But because they only going to remove the uterus they may go through the vagina.
Your Doctor should have already discussed this.
If you have a vaginal removal you are up the next day walking. Oh we are cruel! And home after a day or two. Recovery at home can then take about 2 or 3 weeks before completely healed. Depending too on how you usually heal from surgery.
If it is abdominal surgery the recovery time is longer as it's major surgery.
You are still up the next day and home about 4 days post op. Recovery can take up to 6 weeks before you feel yourself again.
Write down all your questions and ask your Doctor. Write down his/her answers too. It helps a lot.
