Does stress affect someone's menstral cycle?!

Question:

Does stress affect someone's menstral cycle?

Does stress make you late or early starting my period? I'm 2 days late and I've been under more than usual stress. I could be pregnant, but my fiance and I have been trying for over a year. Please don't tell me to take a pregnancy test or to go to the doctor, that's not the answer I'm looking for!

Thank You!

Answers:

Stress can absolutely affect your menstrual cycle! Your luteal phase, the time between ovulation and the start of your period, is "about" the same each cycle (per woman). Stress usually has a habit of delaying ovulation. So after ovulating late and keeping your usual luteal phase, it would make your period seem "late."

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but looking on here for answers is not the right thing to do, either. The only person that can tell you anything definitely is a doctor, and you know that. A delayed menstrual period could indicate pregnancy or a problem. If your period does not start in a week or so, you need to test or seek medical advice, period.

Hope this helps!
