Do Taiwanese women shave?!

Question:

Do Taiwanese women shave?

Is it a general practice of Taiwanese women to keep there armpits unshaven?
I traveled to Taiwan for awhile in the summer. I could not help but notice a large percentage of the women kept their arm pits with hair. At first I just thought it was the older women but after looking at it closer it seemed even the younger 20-30 year old women were unshaven. I did notice however that the younger women had very little hair in their arm pits and it was almost not noticeable. Us women in the USA are not as lucky we have much more hair there. So please I am curious of Taiwanese culture. Is it more common to keep the arm pits unshaven or not? Also what is the general practice regarding this issue in other Asian cultures?
