Is an Inter-uterine-device uncomfortable to have?!

Question:

Is an Inter-uterine-device uncomfortable to have?

I just read a question "What is an IUD?" and i do know of them, but someone commneted "if a woman is tolerant enough to have one" suggesting that they are uncomfortable or painful to wear or have inserted.
Are they? Can you feel them when they are in and how exactly is it inserted, does it hurt please?

Answers:

I have the mirena. It's a 5 year intra uterine contraceptive. I'm not going to lie, it hurt a lot and I was cramping for the first week or so. Now I can't even feel it. It doesn't affect me. I'm glad I don't have to remember to take a daily pill, to put in/out a ring, go in every 3 months for a shot, put on/take off a patch.... All I have to remember is May 22, 2012 (when to take it out).
