If a yeast infection is left untreated, what could happen?

Don't know what the others are talking about really, but a yeast infection isn't really very harmful. "Discomfort and inconvenience are the worst problems associated with a yeast infection..." (see link below) I went many, many years (around 14)without knowing or doing anything about it and everything was still ok. The worst problem is that you can possibly pass it to a male partner if you have sexual contact without protection.
