Why do you get cramps when you have your period?!

Question:

Why do you get cramps when you have your period?

everytime i get my period i get really bad cramps

why is that?

Answers:

the lining of the womb wall thickens before a period to prepare for the egg to attach which is why some women bloat. If conception does not take place the egg comes away with the excess lining which causes the cramps as it breaks away,,, sounds disgusting I know but hope it helps
