Irregular menstrual cycles and large blood clots?!

Question:

Irregular menstrual cycles and large blood clots?

I have had irregular cycles for as long as I can remember. When I was a teen I would skip a month here and there. Now I tend to bleed for 3 weeks or so out of a month. The last time I went to a doctor for it was over 2 years ago and he prescribed hormone pills which seemed to work at the time. I recently found out they could do a DNC for it, but probably won't since I do not have medical insurance. Anyway, this last go around with it I bled pretty heavy (through super plus absorbency tampons every 45 minutes to an hour). One of the clots wasn't the normal stringy kind. It was kind of hard and had some small white thing attached to it. I checked it out and the white thing was pliable but held together. Does anyone have any idea what that could have been?

Answers:

This requires an evaluation from the dr. Because of issues with not having insurance check to see if your city's dept of health offers a free clinic. If not check to see if there is a Medical School close to you that may be able to help.
