Does a morning after pill work even if you are close to your period?

i took a morning after pill within 24 hours after the condom broke. But I was suppose to start my period within a few days after the day the condom broke. I know the pill has an affect on your period, but since I was close to my period time, is the pill as effective? Does my period being so close to the time the condom broke...does that increase my chance of getting pregnant?

I have taken the day after pill and did not have a period afterwards. It does not always mean you are going to get prego if u do or dont have a period. The best thing to do is wait 2 weeks and take a test. I was not pregnant after I took the pill.
