Why don't they make birth control(or should I say fertility control) for men?!

Question:

Why don't they make birth control(or should I say fertility control) for men?

Is it impractical? Impossible? or what reason could there be? I mean it seems unfair that women have to take these potentially harmful drugs and I might add spend all the money on them... Why dont they make it for men so they can spend their money and take the risk ? I mean whats up with that?

Also as a side note, if you are in a long-term relationship with someone do you think that they should pay for half of the cost of birth control? I mean it doesnt seem fair that the person taking the meds has to pay for them when its both partners choice not to have children and prevent that from happening...

Answers:

They are working on it, but there haven't been any results so far. From what I understand, it's a lot easier to control one large cell (egg cell) and to prevent ovulation than to control billions of spermatozoa.
I wouldn't trust a men to take a pill every day.
And yes, both partners should pay for the birth control.
