This is kind of embarrasing to talk about, but I need help...(girls only)?!

Question:

This is kind of embarrasing to talk about, but I need help...(girls only)?

((Before you go any further, I DO NOT have any STDs))

The other night, I started itching a little "down there" because it happens when it gets hot and humid and I think I scratched a little too hard....

Well now, the outside burns and my lips are kind of red and puffy....And I put some antibiotic gel on the outside...and it does help a little, but it still burns

I don't think its a yeast infection because I keep it really clean and it doesn't hurt inside, its just on the outside. I did find a few cuts, but I didn't think they were supposed to burn annoyingly the whole time.

Do I need to see a doctor? Is this an infection? Or is it just irritated and it will go away soon?

And I am on my period if that means anything...

Answers:

Relax Sweety,

You just have some chaffing. When you chaff your skin becomes raw, and therefore puffs and releases a wet fluid. It's summer and its hot, and then your on your period, wearing a pad so your area is getting no air.
It is going to hurt, water burns the hell outa chaffing. Run a tub of nuke warm water with some baking soda in it. Check the fridge, Mom usually keeps the fridge fresh with em. The baking soda will soothe the skin. When you stand up in the tub rinse your area very well. Get out of the tub and wet a cloth with really cold water and press to the chaffing. This will soothe the swelling which will get worse in the tub.
Take this time at home, to lay a towel on your bed and let your area air dry. If possible use a tampon and sleep the night without panties. In the morning you will feel much better, be sure to chance your pad before it gets wet, and use a towelette when you use the potty. In a few days you'll be as good as new.
