If it's not been in for awhile and had time to absorb you could nick the wall lining. When it's damp from blood no, it likely won't do damage. If you've just inserted it and for any reason it doesn't feel like it's in the right position I would recommend going a little slower when removing it just so you don't irritate your vaginal walls.
If you do for any reason get a tear it will heal in a few days as long as your more gentle forward.
I wouldn't yank it out like you would tear off a bandaid but pulling it out fairly quickly won't harm you. I can't see why anyone would want to draw out the process any longer than necessary anyway.
