Best tampon or pad?

I have always had a heavy flow and I can't find a tampon that will fit comfortably or a pad that doesn't leek to the side! I'm only 13 and don't want to hurt myself using heavy flow tampons , I tried that once and it made extra blood come out ! Is that normal if not why did it do that and whats a good alternitive

The vagina stretches so you shouldn't be able to hurt yourself inserting a super tampon. Unless you are worried about breaking the hymen. You could use a tampon and a pad to catch the over flow. You could talk to your doctor sometimes they put young girls on the pill to lighten the flow. My daughter went on the pill when she was 14 and it worked great. She remained a virgin till she was 21. Some pads have wrap around sides to help with this problem I have even used the overnight pads. Or you could put yourself on a schedule to check your pad every hour or so. I know it is a pain but talk to your mom about seeing the doctor. I know it is embarrassing to be so young and have a heavy flow. My daughter was in the marching band with white uniforms. Can you imagine marching in front of all your classmates with a period stain on your uniform. That's when we visited the doctor and he didn't even examine her he just gave her a trial on the pill. worked great.
