I have just discovered that the HRT I have been taking for the past two or three!

Question:

I have just discovered that the HRT I have been taking for the past two or three weeks is out of date?

I have been feeling a bit moody and having hot flushes, but just put it down to being tired. Would I have to consult the doctor about this, or is it OK to continue with a new pack (not out of date)!!

Answers:

Yes it is, and the out of date drugs are unlikely to cause harm. One further concern comes to mind however. If you are still under 50 years and either had an early menopause, or your menopause was caused by surgery there are not yet any time constraints. If you are over 50 years and the pack is old I would be worried about your duration of therapy. HRT now only has a first line license for symptom relief virtually on a smallest possible dose, shortest possible time basis. This is due to the breast and ovarian cancer risks.
