Pain in ovary area?!

Question:

Pain in ovary area?

I have had the occasional stabbing pain in my right ovary (think it is the ovary) for a number of years now. This year it coincided with siatica, and my doctor said it was that . But over the past few months the pain has changed from a sharp stab to a sore throb - bit like if you rub a graze. Any ideas what it could be please? I am at my wits end.

Thank-you. I was wondering that myself, but the doctor pressed my ovary area and he said the felt fine. (When I press the same area I can't even feel an ovary - but I suppose that is what he is paid for). I did ask him if it could be ovarian cancer and he said I would have other symptoms, and not to worry. But I do!

I appreciate your comments.

I am going to visit my doctor on Monday, and tell him that I can't go on like this. It isn't so much the pain/discomfort, it is the worry.

By the way, I am 45, had my family, and I am not planning on having anymore.

Answers:

I have that same pain right now! It has only been bothering me for about 2 weeks. It started out as a random stabbing pain. Now it is like a dull awareness....Very uncomfortable. Everyone keeps telling me that is sounds like an Ovarian Cyst. I have an appointment with an OB/GYN to find out. You should definitely get a second opinion. They can grow very large and cause damage....especially if you are planning on conceiving.
