I had my tubes tied last summer and since then have gained a stone in weight, though no other factors in my life or diet have changed.

I am not aware that there is any work that suggests it does. However the best spelling of sterilisation has always been V-A-S-E-C-T-O-M-Y, unfortunately it is too late for you.
