Birth control question?!

Question:

Birth control question?

Hey guys, I'm 20 and have been in a serious relationship...I recently had sex with my bf, but since I was still a virgin, it hurt too much and i told him to stop....anyway, I thought that since I'm going to be sexually active now, I should go on the pill....but I dont know anything in detail...what's the best kind...what are the side effects....someone told me it prevents you from having kids in the future (which i dont think is true...)...any suggestions?

Answers:

First off, congrats on taking charge and being responsible with your body:)

If you have insurance, I'd suggest finding a gynocologist in your neighborhood and schedule an appointment with him/her to go over all of the questions you may have, plus he/she can give you tons of pamphlets on birth control methods, as well as assess which kind would be best for you. Or, if you don't have health insurance the best place to go is your local Planned Parenthood. Don't let it intimidate you or believe anything you've heard that is negative about PP, they are wonderfully informative, give excellent health care and all at affordable prices adjusted to fit your income level. I, myself, have been a patient of PP for many years. It is ran by an all female staff to put you at ease and are extremely helpful in giving you all the info you'd ever want on birth control:) You can find them in the phone book or on the web and if you're worried about parents or anyone else finding out about your visit, they have very strict privacy guidelines in place to protect you so nobody, except you has to know you ever went there:) Also, if you'd like your boyfriend to go with you, he's more than welcome at PP.

And, to answer your other question...no, birth control pills do NOT prevent you from having kids in the future, but you can find all of that out at the places I suggested above:)

Hope this helps!
