Birth control and low sex drive.?!

Question:

Birth control and low sex drive.?

I have been on birth control since I was sixteen, I am now twenty, and just in the past year I have notice and significant decrease in my sex drive. I Talked to my doctor about it and she put me on ortho tricycline and I have been on that for about a month now and I still isn't helping. Could it be caused from my previous birth control still being in my system? Does anyone recommend any other kind, not depo shot though. Me and my boyfriend of 3 years have a very good relationship and talk about our sexual life often. Im just tired of not wanting to be intimate with him, I want to want to have sex but I just can't make myself get into it at all. Any help please!

Answers:

give your new pills more time for you body to adjust to them. it will take a little bit of time, maybe 3 months and see how you adjust. Unfortunately for us, the nature of birthcontol cause most women's sex drives to go down hill. Testosterone in you system elevates the sex drive, but b.c. introduces higher levels of estrogen and progesterine to the system causing just the opposite. As you get older, your body's hormones change, which probably explains the sudden change in sex drive.
I'm currently taking Yaz, which doesn't seem to effect my sex drive as much as other pills I've been on. It's really just trial and error to find one that will work well with your body chemistry.
