I'm curious as to if anyone else has had spotting like this, or anything similar.?

Ok, so I had only a couple of days of spotting per month from March through May during the time my period was due. May 31st i was put on an antibiotic for a UTI. I started spotting 4 days early, very light and brown with a little pink at first. That only lasted about 3 days. AF was due 06/18 and she showed up very light at first and red and i thought, "Ok, finally she's straightned herself out", but it only lasted 2 1/2 days. then nothing for a day, then back to a small amount of brown 1 time. Also have had cramping on my right side, and sex was painful last night (pain on right side with deep penetration). I took a hpt tuesday that was negative. I have been on Zovia birth control pills for 5 years and take my pill faithfully. I thought the problem may be cysts, but isn't the pill supposed to keep those from occuring, or at least less often? I know there's always a chance of pregnancy, and that would be ok too. No symptoms of that though. Thanks!

Shouldn't be an STD, i've been with only my fiancee for 2 1/2 years. The painful sex has happened once before. My periods were wacky for 3 months before the antibiotics.

Your period can get out of whack sometimes and that is ok. This happens to alot of women if they have an infection (like your UTI). I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

I am however, concerned that you are having painful sex. I would get to the doctor. Is there a chance you could have an STD? If you have an OB/GYN go see him/her soon or make an appointment at a clinic like Planned Parenthood.

You could also have cysts but you need to figure out what is going on.
