I've been on the pill for 8 years, and the only time I have really experienced break through bleeding is if I forget to take my pill on time. Usually it is just a little spotting, not as much as a regular period. It takes a day or two to clear out, but the most protection I have needed is a pantyliner. If it seems like it is really heavy or if it is happening on a regular basis, read the little packet carefully to see what it says about your particular brand of pill. Or call your doctor.
