Question: are kelp or garlic of any use?

Answers: are kelp or garlic of any use?

kelp is the best, it has seaweed, iodine, and potassium good for an underactive thyroid, garlic is good for the heart and circulation.

this is a very good question!

I think the best way to build/improve a slow metabolism is to eat breakfast lunch and dinner and to take some form of excersise.. Easier said than done I know.. im in the same position

Not exactly a vitamin or mineral, but green tea or oolong tea works. Drinking water also helps the liver metabolize fat more efficiently and contributes to weight loss.

Vitamins and minerals are supplements to nutrition. If you look at medically; B vitamins aide quite a bit in metabolism. But to really improve a slow metabolism; there is a combination of things that need to be done to "speed up" metabolism. First off; more activity. And eating foods that can be broken down easier. Garlic is very good for heart health, and Kelp (like other green veggies) have good sources of vitamin and minerals that can maintain that balance in your body.

Coffee (strong),endorses oestrogen,& hightens awareness. This is from a survey done several years ago in America : but beware in some highly strung people it can have side effects , like loss of sleep ect.

"Foods that help to naturally regulate thyroid activity include members of the brassica family such as brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, and turnip. It is important to support metabolic functioning with a good multivitamin, check there is no deficiency in zinc or magnesium - and make sure the diet is rich in fatty acids which are abundant in, for example, oily fish.

To boost your dietary intake of iodine, which is crucial to thyroid functioning, eat more sea vegetables, especially kelp and dulse, and switch to iodised salt. Again, make sure your intake remains moderate though - since in excess, these foods will also have the opposite effect."

PS.I have heard that kelp is an under-active thyroid only, but I'd go for a hormone check to make sure before taking anything as it can mess up your system otherwsie.
