I have taken my fair shares of chinese herbal medicines and western antibiotics and medicines. Had experienced with accupressure and acupunture too in the past. Eversince I was a child, I have poor health and have gone through series of different type of illnesses caused by my poor immune system and stressful lifestyle. Has it worked for me, I would say yes, it has.

You should be taking chinese herbal medicines only from professional chinese herbalist as they will know what should work for your body. The same chinese herbal medicine may work for you but may be bad for me. It has to do with the Yin and Yang combination in your body and your general body make up. So I would suggest you have a chat with your herbalist who gave you those herbs and take along your Sertraline with you.

Having said all that, I am still using chinese herbal mixtures to make my soups for the pick me ups and have my stocks of ginsengs and other chinese herbs in the cupboard. A few years back, I have also resorted to using other alternative health products that I have found in the internet that has worked for me e.g Transfer Factor to boost my immune system and keep me healthy. Occasionally I still use some neurofen for the odd pain but I now rarely take any pills and drugs. If you google for transfer factor uk, you can get lots of information about it. I think they helped for antidepression too.
However whether you can take jin pi wan, xue fu yu wan and Sertraline together, it should be your herbalist who would have the answer to that.
Hope the above helps.

You should ask your Doctor first before taking any other medicines with your tablets, they would know.

I have been using this alternative therapy called Emotional Freedom Technique on my anxiety and depression which has helped me a lot. It's very good at getting rid of all kinds of negative emotions and dealing with all kinds of issues quickly. It does sound crazy but does work. It might be something that can help you. If you type depression in the search engine of emofree.com you should find some articles about EFT helping people who suffer from depression. Try some of the techniques from the fourth link. Also click on the link about EFT helping this bloke on Yahoo Answers with his agoraphobia.

only one way to find out

I am afraid most of these medications are no better than placebo and accupressure certainly isn't. The trouble with questions about drug interactions is that the studies have never been carried out with chinese herbs, the safest option therefore is NEVER to mix them.

Here is a list of potential interations with Sertraline:

Why would you want to mix the two? It's probably safe but the antidepressants in themselves will cause an imbalance in yin/yang and make the chinese medicine a waste of time.
Chinese meds works if they are tailored to your individual condition. I don't believe in the high street chinese medicine places which are all over the south east.
Cupping has done wonders for me in the past. And i swear by Shiatsu.
Keep in mind there are two schools of thought in Chinese medicine. There is TCM and there is 5-element theory. I wouldn't touch TCM with a bargepole ...
