Does anyone follow an alkaline diet?!

Question: I have heard that by creating a more alkaline ph in your body, you can resist many diseases, as disease thrives in a more acidic environment. How does one go about this? Links would be great as well. This question is for the alternative health people, as I am sure no western doctor subcribes to this theory.

I follow the alkaline diet about 1 year now. I am really happy about the positive effects I have been experiencing, such as weight loss (4 kilos which I had no chance of losing before), improved skin, more energy while exercising, and no muscle pain after exercising.
I am so grateful that I've discovered this diet for myself. I really believe that a healthy lifestyle can prevent many diseases including cancer, obesity, allergies, etc.
I usually retrieve my information from this site:

They provide an acid alkaline food chart on their site.

Health is Wealth!! :-)

I try to. If you look at "alkaline foods" in Google you'll get a list. Obviously all the typical Western foods are no good: sugar, alcohol, refined grains... you get the picture. I actually did a lot of good for my body by alkalizing it with Kombucha Tea (I bought Synergy brand at Whole Foods), a bottle a day, for a month or so. My skin and digestion got a lot better. It was expensive though (>$3 for a bottle).

When I feel like I've had too much of the wrong foods, I try to alkalize.

First off, you need to know where your body stands. You may already have a natural dominance of alkaline.

The bodies acid/alkaline balance will predispose a person to certain emotional states. i.e. anger is associated with excess acid pH and fear is associated with excess alkaline pH. You don't want too much of either. 80% of foods should be alkaline forming and 20% acid forming

Foods that alkaline the body are high in Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, and Magnesium. (mainly vegis and fruits)

Foods that acidify the body are high in sulfer, chloride, and phosphorus. (generally protein foods, meats, pasteurized milk products, beans, most grains, most nuts, sugar and white flour)

Soda is so completely acid that it will immediately pull calcium from the bones to buffer the acid.

Don't go on an all alkaline diet.

Note that if you generally feel healthy and full of energy your pH balance is probably normal.

I do!

I can tell you, the changes have been SIGNIFICANT!! And amazing!! I know, no western doctor subscribes to this theory, but why would they? It would undo their whole career!

I used to be diabetic and have a whole wealth of problems - constant boils, constant gas and indigestion (which was hard on my marriage), mental fog, confusion, dyslexia, energy lows that affected my performance at work (and led to me getting fired), constant colds and infections, weak muscles, depression... life basically sucked. For the first time I feel "normal".... like other people!!

Here are some links I have found to support me in this lifestyle.

I thought of a video that I watched one time called "Acid is for Batteries." It was produced by an oncologist. You can see the video on youtube.com - type in Dr. Vega. It was pretty amazing - but you'll see how an acidic environment is not healthy.
