Question: Exercise & Eating Routinely
Exercise. Even just 5mins in the morning and 5mins before you go to bed, will help tremendously with your energy level. Energy levels are the best indicator of a healthy/unhealthy metabolism.
Eating 6 times a day, instead of just the 3 standard breakfast, lunch & dinner meals will help to "normalize" your body's metabolism. And no, I don't mean 6 full meals. Take your current calorie intake(or approximate) and divide it by 6(meals & snacks) instead of 3(meals).
MOST IMPORTANT: DO NOT SKIP MEALS!!!
Skipping meals is the easiest way to throw off your metabolism as well as the digestive process. Eating your meals/snacks at the same time(within a half hour) everyday also helps greatly, to keep your body in a nice routine.
Also, try adding a banana to your breakfast routine. Not only will it give you a boost of energy, it will also help the body to sustain a more 'regular' digestive process/routine. That in turn can help to eventually balance & regulate your metabolism as well.

Their is some good advice on here so far. Another good tip is a cup or two of green and/or red tea into your diet.
Yes exercise and diet are good! However to boost your energy try a mixture of green tea and ginseng. Also don't forget about your mind and spirit. As humans we have more than one level to a complete metabolism. After a morning routine of a light but healthy breakfast of grains, protein, tea and fruit, take a long walk or do some aerobic for 20min. then end with an herbal bath with some fragrant candles.
