I smoked for over 40 years, having quit and gone back several times!. I finally tried something new and have been smoke-free for about a year!. This is what I did: whenever I wanted a cigarette, I'd smoke half of one!. I did that for a couple of weeks, then I'd just take about four or five puffs, only smoking every other time I wanted a cigarette!. I did that for a couple of weeks until I was down to 2 drags on a cigarette, maybe 4 times a day!. Then, I decided that when that pack ran out, I'd buy no more!.
Quitting cold turkey is just about as effective as quitting heroin cold turkey!. Your body is just as addicted to nicotine and you have to wean yourself off it, like heroin addicts do with methadone!. zyban worked really well for me (same drug as wellbutrin, genertic name bupropion)!. also, i used to work on a quit smoking program in an addictions center where our clients chose zyban or he patch, and i think the zyban people tended to have an easier time quitting!.

the fda has issued numerous safety warnings about chantix over the last few months, and since its newer there's not as much data to back up its efficacy!.

nicotine replacement therapy is good, especially in the first few weeks when you're really jonesing, and can be used with zyban!.

people are 50% more likely to stay quit if they get behavioural support!. there is a lot of free counseling for smoking cessation!. the best way to quit is to get some kind of support!. i think the national cancer institute and the lung association both have great programs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nothing!.This may sound crazy but when you get the urge try putting some salt on your tounge and let it dissolve for a few minutes!.Then spit it out!.The salt should have an effect on the same part of the brain as the cigarettes!.I was a 2 pack a day smoker and it worked for me!.I see it work for people all the time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
