If you just have a minor ear pain, a small bag of salt over the ear might help a little!.
But seriously, after having two inner ear infections simultaneously that each felt like a hot nails being hammered into my head, I would suggest that you take at least two Advils!. Three would be better!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it really is an infection rather than just ear ache I would seriously got to the Doctor!. If the infection spreads into your ear it can have serious consequences not to mention serious pain!. Good luck, hope you're better for christmas:)Www@Answer-Health@Com
A good quality Vitamin A, directly into the ear!. You could also consider having candling done; it's a Hopi thing for build up of wax, but might help with your infection, as often balance is involved!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
