I'm wondering why you've got it, if you have no idea what it's for!

Valerian is a herbal remedy whose main action is to help people sleep. However, in my practice, I don't prescribe it because, in some people, it has the opposite effect and can also set off very active dreams - not what you want, if you're wanting to get more benefit from your sleep!

If anyone asks me about it, this is the information I usually give them. By all means take it, but be aware that you may be one of the people it doesn't work for.

I don't know where you are, but in Australia, the bottle must specify the contents, must specify a dose, must have a 'use by' date and cannot be sold unless it is sealed. If it shows none of that info and/or it's not sealed, you should throw it out - you have no way of knowing what is actually in the bottle!
