If you can't get it in one end, stick it in the other......
Oh, I was like that when I was younger. I was scared to swallow
What I did was to:
If it's a capsule, it means it is made out of a plastic to help it pass down the throath easily. It also means that the medicine itself isn't the plastic, but what is inside, so you can use a knife to open the capsule in two and let her swallow the gel inside the capsule (or, if she can swallow halfs of capsul, that would be easier).
Hope it helps!
PS. Now I can swallow them easily, I passed through this fear ;)
Personnal Experience
Fruit Punch or chocolate milk should mask the bitter flavor with a sweet one. You know the saying 'a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down'. Not to mention when you crush it up it'll hit her blood stream faster and more accurately. Swallowing pills is highly over rated. There have actually been occurrences where people have swallowed pills or vitamin's and it simply past right through them without being absorbed. Anyway bitter flavors are most easily masked by sweet ones. Or by using a bay leaf, but I'm not sure that applies to this circumstance.
I would make her take a sip of water FIRST. Then tell her to pop it in her mouth and swallow it without thought. Make sure you have a lot of good juice nearby.
