i need to take a epsom salt bath, but have no bathtub..what's an alternativ!

Question: I need to take a epsom salt bath, but have no bathtub..what's an alternative?
I am having piriformis muscle pain, and my chiro suggested that I take a epsom salt bath to help release the toxins in the muscle. And well..we dont have a bathtub, just a standing shower. Any suggestions?

There are several good alternatives to soaking in a tub to relax the muscles and specifically the piriformis.

First of all you could soak your feet in epsom salts,

You could also try spraying on "magnesium oil" (available online).
Magnesium is better absorbed by the body through the skin, than taken internally.
Magnesium works to help allow the muscles to relax, the opposite of calcium, which helps them to contract. You could have an excess amount of calcium, and a magnesium deficiency.

Third, you could have someone help release tension by directly pressing on your hip and turning your leg in helicopter circles, both directions, clockwise & counterclockwise, 5-10 times.

Lay face down, so you're comfortable. The piriformis muscle runs across your butt, connecting at the sacrum in the center, to the hip, on each side.

Your friend should press on the muscle and move your leg at the same time, holding at the ankle. You should be able to feel the muscle engage, and yet be met with some resistance from the pressure, this could help release some tension there, especially if it's interfering with the sciatic nerves that run down both legs.

I'm a licensed massage therapist, and this is part of my usual routine.

Magnesium oil is something I've been using and reading about. Mark Sircus wrote a book about it called "Transdermal Magnesium Therapy" describing it's value and usefulness in relieving many conditions.

ignore what the chiropractor said. Remember it's now shown in a court of law and through multiple investigations by regulatory bodies that they peddle treatments for which there is not a jot of evidence. Basically they are all a bunch of quacks.

Ask your GP for a referral to a physiotherapist, at least they know what they are doing

Don't know exactly how to help you with the epsom salt part, but you could join a gym and use their hot tub...as well as their sauna...they should help relax your muscles which should do the same as epsom salt does although there are extra benefits from using epsom salt...

Any friends with a tub? I don't have a tub either but some of my friends do and so does my mom. Just ask around and you'll find one.
