What are different ways to meditate?!

What are different ways to meditate?


Answers:

depends on what you like to do...
If you feel most energized by:
music: you could chant (hum a repetitive tune to quiet your mind, bang out something rhymic on the drum the point is to create a repetitive cycle that will essentially hypnotize you)
movement: trance dance, tai chi or yoga , walking a circle in the room slowly thinking only of your steps
fire: light a candle, center your focus and thoughts on the flame
reflections: sit in front of some body of water or a mirror and gaze into it, become mesmerized by its beauty and quiet your thoughts
color- close your eyes and see only one color, let the singularity fill you

I wouldnt recommend lying down with your eyes closed (or even sitting up) because it's easy to fall asleep and or get bored. if you choose to sit, let the rythms of your breathing lull you into a meditative state. You will have thoughts that pop into your head, but instead of humoring them by continuing that train of thought, realize you are thinking and let it go.
meditation is ultimately about self-control- with practice you will be able to easily choose which emotions or thoughts you will let affect you and which you should let go for they will hold you back.

Most importantly do what feels right, choose something you have always felt drawn to that can effectly mesmerize you into a hypnotic state.
