How do I find out if an acupuncture person is reputable and licensed?!

Question:

How do I find out if an acupuncture person is reputable and licensed?

I was offered a free session from some one using craigs list as payment for a fish tank?

Answers:

There are two ways. You can look for him/her on the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine roster here:

http://www.nccaom.org/find.htm

Or you can go to the regulations and licensure department for your state (usually on the government web site). While not all states require licensure to practice, most do and each state should have a record of all licensed practitioners.

Try the NCCAOM web site first, however, as they list all practitioners who have passed the national licensure exam, a requirement for most state licenses.
