How do you pull yourself up when your feeling down?!

Question: I have the wintertime blues and everything is wrong in my life, my best friend the only person I have really been close to this past year totally ditched me, I was so depressed that I moved back in with my parents to try and combat the lonliness and I had a chance to have a good life here but because I am depressed I can't stop doing self destructive things like drinking to much being promiscious etc and I can't seem to pull myself out of it, I've secluded myself for now because I kept hurting people and I don't want to, how do you pull yourself out of something like this and start to feel better, become a better person again, I find it difficult to even get out of bed most days, but I am so tired of feeling like this I want to be happy I just can't seem to, and I have social anxiety so it's REALLY hard for me to open up to someone and talk about this, advice will be much appreciated

For much of my teenage life..I was you. This behavior didn't stop until I was 21 years old. I didn't understand why I was acting this way,but I came to find out that it was because I didn't love myself. Get to the root of your problem...why are you acting this way? Do you feel incomplete? Sit down and make a list of everything you want to change about yourself.
As for the social anxiety....get out and mingle. The longer you seclude yourself...the harder its going to be to become apart of society again.Good Luck and God Bless.

Write down ONE good thing that happened to you each day.

Another way is, when looking at life, try to see the way that things are happening FOR you instead of TO you. :)

Go for very long walks..the fresh air and exercise will do a lot of help...

you can always write a diery. i am down a lot, but then i talk to the main perosn that i love to death then we talk about whats going on and i feel much better

Try to count all the blessings you got until now. Be thankful. You see, in my country, floods happened just right now (yea in Christmastime) and took many lives. And many people in my country live in poverty, they live day by day, wondering what food to eat TOMORROW. And there is mud flood in one province in my country, people lost their home and their job, and the government seemed less care about them, they have to struggle with their own problems... and they go to other big cities to beg any kindness of other people that can give them shelter, food, money. Man... how lucky you are, compared to most people in my country!

Do you go to church at all? Give it a try. When having a problem or conflict of any kind, why start at the bottom for a solution? Go straight to the top. God will never leave you nor forsake you. He loves you for who you are...He created you and has a plan for your life. We can not always understand or know what it is, but eventually, he always makes it clear as to why certain things happen. Trust in him. If you
have never read the Bible, try that. He will help you, and he will bless you. Good Luck!

Things get better once your older, and can control your life. Find someone who can listen or understand what your going through. Sometimes it helps to tune life out listen to music alone for an hour, take a walk, exercise even volunteering to a needy shelter will make you smile. Its important to have something to look foward to. Just remember you have a place to sleep at night there are people out there who can't even shower or eat for days there is always hope.
