Question for professionals?!

Question: describe what the personality axis is, and what it would mean to you if you saw someone had 'psychotic features' listed as their personality axis? how would you professionally handle yourself when interacting with this individual? how would this individual likely behave? are they intelligent usually?

There is no such thing as a personality axis, it would fall under psychological disorders, and that is axis 2. You can't explain how one would behave without a diagnoses.

why the hell are you looking for professionals on yahoo answers.
any loonie can make up bull sh*t and say they know what they're talking about.
you're clueless.

Depends on what axis they are on...there is more than one axis. And I deal with psychotic features everyday at my job and intelliegence has nothing to do with whether they have psychosis.

I'm not a mental health professional but am a clinical psychology student (final year) so I'll try to help. I'm not sure if there is such a thing as the 'personality axis', but what I can tell you is that personality disorders are located on Axis II of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, otherwise known as DSM (American Psychiatric Association). I also know that there are a number of 'personality styles' listed in most clinical psychology books. These include things like 'a depressive style', 'a negativistic style', 'an obsessive style' etc. If a person has a personality disorder with psychotic features, a clinician may expect the person to have odd/unusual beliefs, possibly delusions and/or hallucinations, trance-like states are sometimes seen, and usually the person experiences some loss of contact with reality. As for how I'd professionally handle myself, I can't really answer that as I'm not a professional yet! Hope this is of some help!

I would offer them tea and crumpets, in a professional manner of course.

how can you expect strangers on the internet, who wont even show you their face, or use their real name, to be a professional?
why cant you do the normal thing and find a psychiatrist or a psychology profesor.
your just lazy, and have trouble defining peronality axis
