Bipolar or Depression?!

Question: Okay so i get really depressed sometimes. i have suicidal thoughts or i cry and think about how pointless my life is. but sometimes im really happy and optimistic and even a little egotistical. like today i was fine until 4th period when all of the sudden i thought "wow my life is pointless" and i started to cry, then i got really apathetic and spent the rest of my day that way. im under alot of stress right now but i've been like this for a while, only now its gotten more severe. my friend said i might be bipolar, so i was just wondering am i bipolar or depressed?

You sound Type 2 Bipolar, like me. But that's only if you're more depressed than elated, and just how elated you get. But only a doc can really tell. See a few though because bipolar disorder is one of the hardest to diagnose, especially in adolescants. No one believed that I was bipolar except me until I was hospitalized for a suicide attempt. Hope it doesn't get to that point with you. Hypomania is really hard to fully get because teens get loopy by nature. I have a friend who is diagnosed as bipolar like me but I know she's depressed; she has her bubbly and fun moments regardless of depression. Thoughts that you can't really control (random, leave when they please, out of the ordinary for your persona) would be more bipolar.

I vote Bipolar. Rapid Highs and Lows... You can take medications for it or just be yourself...

It's bipolar

You could have a bipolar disorder or something related to your menstrual cycle! I forgot what it is called but it is kinda like a bipolar disorder! I know what you meant by 4th period its just that bipolar disorder and that one with menstruation are different in some ways!!!

Its ok to have feelings that last for awhile youre alive and your human accept that and quit looking for an answer or a doctor or a pill to save you Live!!!

you could be, please make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. this is nothing to ignore.

Is something bothering you when you get down or is it just coming on spontaneously? I find after alot of let downs I go down. I can sometimes rise above it. It's not so severe that I would do something crazy, yet it is a burden in my life. My brother always blocks out negativity and has a great job and life. If there is alot of negativity in your life it will produce these mood changes too. I am guessing you are in highschool? A difficult time with peer pressure and other growing up issues. I noticed the 'down' feeling my first time in grade 10. It all spiralled downhill from there. Don't let it happen to you. I was back in school for a long time from 29 and on. Thank God for that. Get the best help you can. You deserve it. You sound like an awsome kid.

Sounds like long term depression to me. Dated a woman for over four years and that is what she said was the cause. Just to let you know that no one in this world is useless you just have to find something that you are good at and work it from there. You can turn it around with the help of friends.

No one here could say but it sounds more like bipolar than depression.

The only thing I'll say is only a therapist is qualified to make the call.
