Anyone familiar with Ativan? How about Serzone?!

Question: I took Serzone for about 6 years and through a series of insurance problems, ended up off the Serzone and on Ativan. I've been taking "about" 2 mg. of Ativan a day for the last 1 1/2 years. ( 1/2 mg 3 times a day - 4 times max)

Anyway, I made an attempt at cutting down on the Ativan yesterday by not taking a dose at bedtime. I woke up this morning about 3 am and just sort of layed in bed. When I got up around 6 am, I felt very strange. I just felt like crying. And I did. I took 1/2 mg dose and by 7 am I felt much better.

Question: Is getting off the Ativan going to be a really bad experience? I don't want to go off my nut but I'd really like to cut the dose back. Could starting the Serzone again make it easier?

Emails are welcome. Just go to my profile to email me.

Thanks.

Serzone was about the only thing that helped my ex-wife with her behavior (I strongly suspect she has BPD - borderline personality disorder). http://www.thepsychoexwife.com

Unfortunately, Serzone was taken off the market due to concerns about liver failure and death round about 2004 - so that is no longer an option for you.

I urge you to consult your doctor about the experiences you're having with Ativan, perhaps find an alternative if you suspect long-term problems with Ativan. Only a professional could direct you as to the pros and cons of taking a certain medication.
