Anxiety or panic attacks?!

Question: i recently started having some panic attacks. the onset was terrifying. i couldnt sleep, had an upset stomach and then all of a sudden i felt like i was smothering and heart started to pound.

i went to the infirmary at my school the next day and, while all my blood pressure and heart rate were normal, they were much higher than they had been at my last checkup

i went to the doctor later on and everything was normal again. i got a chest x-ray and everything. the doctor told my i may have been anxious and sent me home.

i denied it at the time because it certainly didn't feel like panic and im normally a very, very relaxed person, but its been about a week and i've realized that i was definitely panicking about something. about 2 or 3 times a day i just get short of breath. i try my best yoga breathing and calming thoughts but it just goes on for 1 or 2 hours before dissapearing

i'm being cautious with all advice, so anyone can answer, but what is going on and what can i do to help?

Sometimes panic attacks can occur for seamingly no reason at all. I used to have these. I felt fine, sitting in class, and would all of a sudden become short of breath and overly anxious.

I took meds for a while but decided to go after it naturally, as the side effects were killing me.

I decided to do yoga at a local school and I was surprised how much it helped. It may not work for everyone, but it is definitely worth a shot.

What you ultimately need to do it figure out the trigger, because whether you realize it or not, there is something that is causing this anxiety. It might be something in your external environment or it might be something mental.

I used to get panic attcks but since I've started taking anti-depressants it's helped it and I don't get themanymoe. I'm not the onlone...many othr people have shown the sae result when they started getting on meds. You don't necisarilly need to be depressed. Ask your doctor about startijng them if you don't stop having them. I know they can be very scary to have.

Hello i suffer with panic attacks too i get them when i feel unwell cause i have a fear of vomiting so this sets me off. They just make thinsg worse but i have learnt to control them to a certain extent. My dad knows a very experience and good psychologist. He told me to do some breathing techniques to calm me. You have to breath from your stomach if that makes sense not from your chest. Take a deep breath from your stomach and hold for a few seconds then exhale slowly for a couple of seconds keep doing this and it will defo help to calm you and it works very quickly. I used to have awful attacks before i knew this my whole body would go completly paralised and my hands would claw. I would get pins and needles in my hands, feet and mouth. I couldnt speak and my heart would feel like it was coming out of my chest. DONT take anti-depressants they are addictive and can make you worse my bf went on them for depression and they ruined his life and made him very suicidal. Just try to stay calm do the technique i have explained and maybe try some meditation. Best of luck xx

i used to have panic attacks too. now i am takking an anti-depressant/anxiety and its helped a tonne! ask your docter about it! :-)
