slow mentally excruciating death...

Homicide and/or suicide.

Nothing good. it can eventually lead toward suicide or suicidal ideation. Severe depression must be handled medically. A good psychiatrist will start you on some meds and monitor to see if they're effective. If not, don't give up. There's quite an arsenal of different meds used to treat this. And for the one's that work, they usually kick in after two or three weeks of taking them. They can restore to you a normal mood and help you sort the psychological stuff that comes with depression. But never leave it untreated.

you die???

the person my cause harm to themselves and or another person(s) , but only if signs of suicide are running thru his or her mind at this time.

If it is in a teen/or child, it can be left unPROFESSIONALLY treated until they are an adult and can go to their own doctor and get some antidepressants. Sometimes it's just the stress of growing up, believe me, been there done that. =) If you need help or just to vent, you can email me anytime. I know how it feels. Good luck. =)

If the person has agitated depression, the pressure can build up quickly to the point where suicide is a good possibility.
If the person has a slowed down type of depression, the person will no longer take care of himself/herself. The person will stay in bed and not even want to get up to eat.
This is why it is important to get treatment in the early stages of depression.

It depends. It could result in suicide or serious risks to physical health (due to not getting adequate nutrition/hydration or neglecting medical conditions). Sometimes, though, severe depression can spontaneously or gradually remit.
