Anxiety induced nausea?!


Question: iv had anxiety induced nausea for about 8 months, every day and its driving me crazy lol, i take stemtil for it, but it doesnt work all the time, im absolutely starving all the time, what can i do?

A friend of mine used to get this a lot at school, especially around exams and coursework deadlines.

This is going to sound like a really weird suggestion, but have you thought about taking some Yoga or relaxation classes? That way if you start feeling anxious or ill you can try to relax and stop it getting worse. I know when we were doing A-levels a side effect of the yoga lessons we were doing in Phys Ed was that my friend felt calmer and was less prone to stress attacks.

Something else you could try is herbal teas. These might help a bit, and if nothing else they're light on the stomach - I always find drinking too much water when I'm stressed or feeling queasy can make me worse. Blends containing Chamomile are generally supposed to have a calming/relaxing effect, and ginger or peppermint may help alleviate the nausea or settle your stomach if you do throw up. Vervain and Valerian are also supposed to be good, but if you're on medication I'd suggest checking with your local health food shop or your doctor just in case these don't mix.

try a different medication.
