you can try the one at your school. give em a chance since you have the appointment already. but you may feel uncomfortable because your in the setting of your school. and if you don't like your school or if you are not doing well in school then you may feel uncomfortable there. try and see what happens. there are a lot of good people that work with schools. if you need to go see a nother one outside the school setting and you don't have money, you can call your states department of human services and they will direct you where to go for free or on a sliding scale depending on your income or lack of. good luck and it's great that you are dealing with your problems.

they didn't help me. they just refered me to the regular one. i guess it depends why you're there though and how much you tell them. don't be nervous. it goes quickly. the good thing about the school ones are that they're free but the regular ones cost $90/hour.

Sometimes school psychologists really do help. It all depends on what you're seeing them for. I went to mine for depression and suicidal thoughts and she didn't really help me, so my mom took me to a real one. So, don't be nervous, if it doesn't work at all, go to a regular psychologist.

You don't have to be worried! You'll see when you get there! If you feel comfortable with psychologist you have all chances to get the help you need. If it doesn't feel ok, that's fine too. Then you go to a regular one. It's all about chemistry between you and the psychologist. Just give it a chance and don't rush things too fast, maybe you should go there a couple of times before you make any decisions. Good Luck!

Some do, some don't.

Sometimes a person with an undiagnosed learning difficulty can be correctly diagnosed and helped a little; in other cases, the time spent can be a complete waste. Good luck.

I went to see a psychologist at my college and she just referred me to go to a professional clinic. There wasn't anybody at my school who specialized in my problem and I don't feel like she understood me at all. Also, students only get ten free sessions at my school and after that you have to pay. So for chronic conditions it might be better to see a regular one. But give the school psychologist a shot, they are different at each school and if they can't help they can show you what your other options are.
