What do YOU think of my doctor?!

Question: I went to the doctor and he prescribed me zoloft. Then he increased my dosage two fold. When I went to the pharmacy there was trouble with my insurance company at which time I informed my doctor of the same. To make a long story short, when I went to pick up the meds, I noticed it was the original dose of the meds and there was no call or any indication why the doctor changed his alleged mind. I called his office and left messages and gave up. What is your opinion of this quack, I mean doctor?

Definitely seek out a new one. Zoloft? Hmmm. I don't know, I have never really taken a liking to that drug... a friend used to be on it, and it didn't seem to do sh-t for her. But I would certainly seek out a new doc... thanks to your status in life, you are able to do so. Take advantage of the priviledge!

Let your fingers do the walking--there are a million of them out there.

probably rather than deal with hassle and paperwork he just told them the original dosage was fine. Either that or he should of never made such a large increase all at once and when it was pointed out to him he changed it back.

Either way it doesn't sound like you have a good doctor and you should really change providers.

Good Luck

I would be saying so long Doc. I won't fool around with a fool, ah excuse me I mean a quack!

MH doctors should be more compatible with patients in need (or in crisis). I think the doctor should always let you know what he is thinking to make treatment more effective.

don't worry, may be he just thought that it'd be good for you and that's why he increased ur dosage two fold. now he's the doctor so. don't worry.

and if u want to than change ur doctor.

It seems as though you already have a strong feeling about this doc (you called him a quack), so I think you should go with your gut and find a doc whom you like.
Are you sure they didn't change the instructions like "take 2" and increased the amount of pills not the dosage? I'd harass the doctor till you get an answer.
And are you seeking other treatment for your depression, anxiety or whatever your taking it for? THAT is the true cure. Doing things to actively change your life, not just medicate to get through it. So, if your not getting therapy I suggest you do. If you are, terrific. I worry about Dr.'s who are not therapists prescribing things for emotional issues but not providing the structure and techniques for people to actually overcome their problems. I assume this is the case given what info you provided about him here.
Ask others you know who may have similar issues who they see and if they like them. Best of luck to you.

Don't listen to smiley above me........ You know you better than your doctor. Your doctor is not a f*ing miracle worker, and they make mistakes just like everyone else. The relationship should be based in trust but the trust should be derived form as good collaboration with you.

Either he made a mistake or he doubled the qty of the old dosage so you should take 2 instead of one a day (sometimes doc's do this so the ins will cover it)
