Ghostly Experience?!

Question: I am TERRIFIED that I will see a ghost, zombie or demon one of these days. I am not kidding you. I constantly live in fear of having an experience with one of these. I cannot sleep right, I cannot walk into my bathroom without being scared, I cannot walk outside alone, nothing. It's a serious problem and I wish I could seek help for it, but I don't know where to go. And if I have to go to counseling for it, I just don't have the money and my insurance won't cover it. I just don't know what to do. My husband and I will be moving in May and I am so afraid to move into a new place and be freaked out all over again. Probably 10 times worse since it's a new environment. I just have such an overactive imagination and I imagine seeing these things and it really scares me!

you have a serious anxiety problem, if you can not afford therapy than the least you should do for yourself is go to your regular doctor and get some help they can prescribe medication.. however I feel you should try to save up money for a therapist. There might even be some sort of treatment where you stay there for a few days and they help you get over your fear and then you are all better forever! you should really look into that!

Sounds like you have a significant anxiety problem.
You might want to talk to a doctor about an antidepressant or antianxiety medication :)
Good Luck.

go to the library and see if u can find a self-help book on overcoming these thoughts

It might help to talk to someone that "knows something" about ghosts and such. A parapsychologist (with a degree, and not from off the internet!)

It helps, too, to consider that "ghosts are people"...they're just people (or were anyway) and people aren't scary, right?

You can get counseling on a sliding-scale basis, based on what your income is. Don't let that stop you! Your regular doctor can point you in the right direction of clinics like these.

my question to you is what is the big deal if you did see one. Its not as if one goes blind bcos of it, you'll just get the fright of your life...
Being afraid of something that will only frighten the bejesus out of you is a bit of a no-brainer to me, wait till it turns up and then be really frightened for real. At least it'll be with reasonable reason.
There are far more things worth worrying about, that will make seeing a ghost seem like a walk in the park, but I won't say as you might start dwelling on that...

This sounds like me, but a little more extreme. I am 23 and am still scared of the dark. One thing that helps me is praying, not a getting down and kneeling type pray but just a real quick prayer in my head. Chances are, you're NOT going to see these things and the more you think about them the more you just end up imagining things. I heard a saying once that if you open up your mind to that kind of stuff then you let stuff in. If you keep your mind closed about those kind of things then nothing will happen. The saying didn't go exactly like that, but you get the point.

Most all people never claim to have seen a ghost. The chances of you seeing one is astronomical. And there is no such thing as easter bunnies or zombies.

Have you considered, or do you go to church? Maybe you would find comfort in God's spiritual protection. God can also heal you from your anxiety if you invite him to help you.

It's not the dead you should be fearing, it's the living. Sounds like anxiety issues.
